Abstract

Among the African novelists, the name of Abdul Razak Gurna is important, who was born in 1948 in the Gurna region of Tanzania. He was a professor of English by profession. Eight novels and a collection of fiction have been published so far, in which poverty, ignorance, oppression and social misery due to the colonial era in African countries and surrounding areas have been the subject. Among these novels, his masterpiece is titled Memory of Departure, which has been translated by Syed Saeed Naqvi under the title of Yadmafarqat. In this novel, the story of the poverty-filled life of a 15-year-old African child has been created with skill. In this paper, the novel from western colonialism to independence, poverty, bankruptcy, corruption, unemployment, homelessness and love story of the main character has been analyzed. Apart from this, the psychological analysis of the main characters in the novel has also been done
