Abstract

This study explores the profound impact of social media on the character formation of Muslim youth in the light of Islamic ethics. With the rapid advancement of digital communication, platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter) have become influential tools that shape opinions, behaviors, and moral perspectives. While social media offers vast opportunities for connectivity, information dissemination, and religious outreach, it also presents challenges that can lead to moral decline, identity confusion, and behavioral issues among the youth. This research investigates how excessive exposure to unfiltered content, cyber interactions, and virtual trends can conflict with the ethical values rooted in Islamic teachings such as modesty, truthfulness, respect, and accountability. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, the study analyzes patterns in youth behavior, their understanding of Islamic ethics, and the influence of digital platforms on their daily decisions. The paper concludes by offering recommendations for integrating ethical guidance within the digital environment and fostering a balanced approach that upholds Islamic values while navigating the modern virtual world.
