Abstract
This paper explores the dynamic interplay between Qur’anic consciousness and intellectual ijtihad in the philosophical thought of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, emphasizing their role as a path of revival for the Muslim Ummah. Iqbal, a visionary poet-philosopher of the twentieth century, considered the Qur’an not merely a religious text, but a source of perpetual spiritual and civilizational awakening. He viewed ijtihad—reinterpretation of Islamic principles in changing contexts—as a crucial force for intellectual emancipation and collective reform. This research examines how Iqbal derived inspiration from the Qur’anic worldview to reimagine Muslim identity, autonomy, and moral responsibility. The paper further investigates Iqbal’s critique of stagnation in Islamic thought and his call for dynamic reasoning rooted in revelation. By studying his lectures, poetry, and prose, it highlights how his integration of Qur’anic ideals and ijtihadi methodology offers the Muslim world a viable blueprint for revival, resistance against intellectual decline, and a meaningful presence in the modern world.
