Abstract
This study explores the reflection of the ancient Harappan civilization and its cultural legacy in Urdu fiction, analyzing how writers have artistically reimagined the roots of the Indus Valley civilization within the modern literary framework. The research examines the representation of Harappan society, its urban planning, moral codes, artistic expressions, and social order, as they appear in various Urdu novels and short stories. Through literary analysis, it identifies how fiction writers have used historical imagination to bridge the past and present, transforming archaeological facts into human stories and moral metaphors. The study also highlights how contemporary Urdu fiction interprets Harappan culture not merely as a relic of the past but as a living mirror for current social and cultural dilemmas in Pakistan. By exploring themes of identity, continuity, and loss, this research demonstrates how the creative engagement with Harappa serves to reaffirm national and civilizational consciousness. The paper concludes that the reinterpretation of Harappan civilization in Urdu fiction has deepened the narrative of cultural continuity and inspired renewed scholarly interest in Pakistan’s ancient heritage.
