Abstract
Islam offers a holistic approach to life that prioritizes human welfare, equality, justice, and cooperation, ensuring that everyone’s rights are protected within the community. Among those who need special attention are orphans, who often lack parental especially paternal support and must navigate life’s hurdles largely on their own. The Holy Qur’an and the teachings of the Prophet emphasize the importance of caring for orphans, highlighting their protection and the kindness they deserve. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) beautifully illustrated this bond by saying, “I and the sponsor of an orphan will be together in Paradise like this,” while joining two fingers to symbolize their closeness.
In Islamic culture, looking after orphans goes beyond just a social duty; it’s seen as an act of worship and a way to draw closer to God. Education is particularly emphasized, as it equips these vulnerable children to become self-sufficient, morally grounded, and valuable members of society. In today’s world, where education is key to progress and social mobility, meeting the educational needs of orphans is more important than ever. The Qur’an and Sunnah consistently stress the need to protect orphans' rights and property, ensuring they receive the education and training necessary to lead dignified and independent lives, despite their challenging circumstances.
