Abstract
Many literary histories of Urdu have been written. Although it started with mentions, the first mention of Urdu poetry is "Nakat-us-Shu'ara" in which Meer Taqi Meer gave information about Urdu poets. After that, many more mentions were written. Later, Muhammad Hussain Azad's "Aab-e-Hayat" came to the fore in which he wrote a history of the Urdu language and declared Urdu to be "Bhirj Bhasha". After this, various types of literary histories were written. The first regular history of Urdu literature was "A History of Urdu Literature" which was published in 1927. Later, its Urdu translation was done by Mirza Muhammad Askari. "Tarih Adab Urdu" compiled by Dr. Jameel Jalibi is very important in this regard. Four volumes of which have been published so far. The book "Urdu Adab Ki Mukhtasar Tareen Tareekh" compiled by Dr. Salim Akhtar is also very important. "Urdu Adab Ki Mukhtasar Tareekh " by Dr. Anwar Sadeed is another book in which a new style. This article reviews brief histories of Urdu literature.
