Abstract

Allah Almighty has created distinguished and great scholars for this Ummah who composed and taught the biography of the Prophet (S.A.W). The Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Saad al-Hashemi al-Basri (may Allah Almighty have mercy on him) is among these honourable scholars. He is considered to be one of the most important scholars who have contributed in this field. He wrote a lot of the Prophet’s biographies. Among these Prophet’s biographies, the most important of his Prophet’s biography works is the “Al Tabaqaat ul Kubra”. It is considered to be one of the most famous compilations of Ibn Saad from which he became famous. He devoted the first and second part of this book for the biography of the Last Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.). While the last part has been devoted for the biographies of female companions of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) among the Muhajireen and Ansar (may God be pleased with them). His book “Al Tabaqaat ul Kubra” is considered to be the first book after the Prophet’s biography written by Ibne Ishaq and Magahzi Al Waqid (may Allah Almighty have mercy on them).
