Abstract

The Holy Qur'an is the last book of Allah Almighty which was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from time to time over a period of twenty-three years. Since it is the last and final revelation which canceled all the previous revealed books and the chain of revelation for the future has been closed forever, so it was necessary that its Care should be taken to keep the words and meanings safe until the Day of Judgment, so Allah Ta'ala himself took the responsibility of protecting them and it is obvious that whatever comes under the responsibility of Allah Ta'ala, there is no possibility of any mistake in it. In view of this divine promise of protection of the Qur'an, it can be said with confidence that both the words and meanings of the Holy Qur'an are safe, because without the meanings, only the protection of the words cannot achieve the original purpose. The meanings of the words of the Holy Qur'an were clarified by Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ in his hadiths. Imam al-Bukhari has established the title of Kitab al-Tafseer in his book "Sahih al-Bukhari" and under it, he has mentioned 490 blessed hadiths related to the interpretation of the Holy Qur'an. Maulana Abdul Khaliq Bajuri has written a commentary on Sahih Bukhari by the name of "Ghunya-tul-Qari". In this article, the method of interpretation of Kitab al-Tafseer has been highlighted.
