Abstract

The novel “Daira”, “Natumam” and “Bhaid” by Muhammad Asim Butt depict the characteristics and identity  of Lahore city.These novels portray Lahore’s culture, civilization, history and traditions highlighting specially the contrast between walled city and modern Lahore. Lahore has been shown to suffer wounds due to its extension.These novels shed light on the tradegy of modern Lahore’s strangness, isolation and alienation.The mentioned places, streets, old houses with courtyards, shops, bazars, colleges, liberaries, universities, gardens, historical buildings, tombs, mosques all creat a mosaic and art gallary and Lahore emerges as a dynamic centeral character.
