Abstract

Islam is a universal religion which Allah SWT has chosen for all humans till the end of times. Allah Himself has taken the responsibility of protecting this religion, and has made some manifest arrangements for its protection. One of these is the chained certification of holy hadiths which is connected to the prophet SAW himself. It is one of Allah's special blessings on this ummah that even the knowledge of the chain of narrators is secure and verifiabl. In the jargon of hadith, sanad or attribution refers to the path leading to the text of hadith i.e. the narrators of hadith. From very beginning, the Muslim has been very cautious about hadith. Hazart Abu Bakar and Hazart Umar RA took special care in this regard. In Hazrat Usman's era, conditions for the narration of hadith were even stricter, and no hadith was accepted without a rigorous authentication. Ensuring high degree of authenticity is highly appreciable and is a token love for the Prophet SAW. It is the way of the companions of Prophet SAW and the virtuous of the early times. In today's age of science and technology, no other nation can claim that they have preserved the sayings of their prophet or leader with such an immaculate degree of authenticity as the Muslim ummah has done. It is a miracle of the Prophet of Islam SAW that all actions, words and manners are verifiably preserved. The knowledge of the attribution of hadith is called a science as no scientific or rational mind can deny it.
