Abstract

Abdullah Hussain holds a significant place as a writer both in the genres of Urdu novel and Urdu short stories.  One of the key themes of his short stories is societal behaviors along with many other themes. He has openly criticized the social tyranny, repression, conservatism, oppression, the exploitative forces and uncivilized norms of the society. He propagates that these savage norms of society have been masked through the civilized face of religion, civilization and morality. He further explains that these are the hypocritical tactics of the powerful sections of society through which they play with the feelings and emotions of the poor. In short, Abdullah Hussain has presented a picture of the society in sarcastic way. . He has created master pieces in the genre of short story while depicting the social realism.
