Abstract

If we talk about literature for life, in Urdu literature, Munshi Prachanda’s name holds a prominent place in this regard. Premchand recognized his position as a fiction writer, while as a novelist he also made the most sensitive topics of society a part of his writing. Great literature is one that is a true representative of society and highlights social problems. If we talk more than that, a great writer is one who not only highlights the problems of society in his literature but also presents all possible solutions to them. Premchand is also a writer of the same thought. And he highlights social problems and represents the oppressed class. Munshi Premchand tries to create awareness in society with his writing. He writes five Novels “Bazar e Husan”, “Nirmala”, “ Gosha e Afiyat, “Gaodhan” and “Midan e Amal”. In this research article, we will review the social themes raised in Premchand's novels.
