Abstract

The employees of East India Company realized it soon that culture & civilization are closely linked to language. It gives rise to the feelings of congregation. The probable hint about the daily life of a society and its people's way of living, thoughts expressions and other aspects can be taken from its language. That is way, he paid special attention to national and international languages along with art and literature so that he could be familiarized with the habits, culture, civilization, traditional events and prejudices of Hindustanis. With regard to that this research article sheds light on what sort of steps were taken by East India Company and to what extent they got succeeded in attaining perceived goals.
