Abstract

“Baghair Unwan Kay” is Sa’adat Hasan Manto’s only novel written by him. This novel did not get the due appreciation as it should have received in the history and among modern novels. The proof of such claim is that this book is rarely mentioned in all the books written on novel. The researchers who worked on Manto also gave importance to other works of fiction only and ignored “Baghair Unwan Kay”. Manto’s this novel incorporates all the features in itself that are characteristics of any significant, serious and modern novel. In this novel Manto presented human psychology and human unconsciousness in the way that such example is rarely found in Urdu novel. Moreover it also documents and fulfills the principals of Frued’s ideology of “psyche”.  In the history of Urdu novel. Among the novels written under the influence of Psyche, this novel is better in many aspects. Manto portrayed the Psychoanalysis of characters in a self-exemplary way.
