Abstract
JONATHAN Swift is a literary giant of English literature and especially English prose. He is an Anglo-Irish satirist, essayist, political pamphleteer, poet and cleric. Swift is famous and remembered for his satire. His literary works such as A Tale of a Tub, An Argument against Abolishing Christianity, Gulliver's Travels, and A Modest Proposal are masterpiece of English prose. Gulliver's Travels is the hallmark of satirist depiction. In this article the role of Jonathan Swift as a satirist is determined with special reference to Gulliver's Travels. He is regarded by the Encyclopedia Britannica as the foremost prose satirist in the English language. Gulliver's Travels is such a master peace of rare kind of itself which encompasses many aspects of social life of Europe in the 18th century. It whips from monarchy to commoners and from scientists to educationists with the same hunter or satire
