Abstract

The Tughlaq era is considered a golden age in the subcontinent for the promotion and dissemination of religious knowledge. During this period, the science of jurisprudence was widely accepted in theology. Apart from scholars and Sufis, Sultans and emperors also had a special fondness for jurisprudence during this period. The development of the science of jurisprudence involved the special interest and efforts of the Sultans of Tughlaq. Books of fatwas are of great importance in the jurisprudential literature of the Tughlaq era. It is very important to highlight this work for two reasons. On the one hand, a lot of work has been done on it and it can help in solving modern problems even in the present day. This article will show the evolution of jurisprudence in the subcontinent, especially the books of fatwas compiled in the Tughlaq era and the authenticity of Sufism in jurisprudence. From the study of the jurisprudential literature of this period, it can be clearly inferred that the scholars and shaykhs of that time played a very important role in writing books and fatwas in the light of Shariah for the solution of modern problems.
