Abstract

Folk culture is the specific reference and identity of any region. people living in a particular community have affinity with each other and with their land. They want to introduce this treasure to their future generations. But due to moderannization and complexity in culture mostly the priorities, needs and inclinations of the new generation are different from their traditional culture. This is mainly due to the transformation of the world into a global village which has strengthened the concept of virtual reality and therefore, the local traditions are influenced up to a great extent. There are some communitiee in South Punjab that has revive their centuries old traditions with them. They see the new life through the eyes of the past and want to live in their own romance. The article under review examines the folk tales, folk songs, proverbs and legends of the people living on the banks of the river Chenab. This article also clarifies the folk wisdom of these people. The author is also publishing a book titled "Chenab Kanare" in which the lives of the people living along the Chenab bank have been reviewed in detail. Hopefully it will be published soon.
