Abstract

Ahmad Faraz is well known personality of Urdu literature. He was famous as a poet, translator, journalist, script writer and director. He was elected head of the “Academy of Literature” in 1976. He was associated with Iqbal Academy from 1980 to 1990 as the Director General. He was the editor of the monthly magazine “Ishtiqaq” and the weekly “Khadim”. Ahmad Faraz wrote thirteen collections of poetry the mames of which are follows:

“Thanha Tanha, Darde Ashoub, Nayaft, Shab-e-Khoon, Mare Khawab Razah Razah, Jana Jana, Be Awaz, Gali Kuchon Men, Sab Awazain Meri Hein, Nabina Shair me Aaina, Pas-e-Andaz-e-Mossom, Khawab -e- Gull Preshanhe, Ghazal Bahana Karon, Bodlik (Drama)” and Collection Poetry book “Shaher Sukhen me Arasta he, He was attached with Tarqi Pasand actuation. His poetry gives the message of humanity and against the cruelty. He got “Noble Prize in 1966 on his poetry book “Dard-e- Ashobe”.
