Abstract

The poem is a beautiful kind of Urdu poetry. Its initial period consists of classical poem. Anjuman Punjab has brought reforms and portryed natural colours in Urdu Poem. Raashid and Meera Jee are founders of modern poem. Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Saahir Ludhyanwi have given progressive thoughts to the poem. Moreover, Majeed Amjad, Jeelani Kamran, Wazir Agha, Akhtar Hussain Jaffari, Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi, Zia Jalandhari and Qayyum Nazar have broadened the canvass of modern poem with regards to thematic aspects. The creation of Urdu poem has opend many horizons from Maulana Haali to the present era.
