Abstract

Sarmad Sehbai is a well-known writer of modern era. He is a drama writer, critic and distinguished poet. The sixties and seventies are of great importance in the context of modern literature. From the point of view of modern poetry, the Urdu poetry that was brought by Rashid and especially Majeed Amjad, the poets of that period did not go beyond this point either technically or thematically. Reading Sarmad’s poems, it is clear that he has secceeded in reaching the brain of modernity. From a technical point of view, his poetry is a continuation of the tradition of Rashid and Majeed Amjad and seems to carry this legacy in a positive direction. In this article, effort has been made to elaborate the legacy of Sarmad’s Poetry.
