Abstract

Short Story is a brief fictional Prose narrative, purely westeren form of literature. This is concerned with a one or few aspects of life. The concise narrative's success depends on its complex peot and treatement of characters. The technique of writin is major weapon in this regard. In Urdu literatrue history, specially in fiction, the numbers of successfull/writers are limited. One of those is Intizar Hussain who modified the techniques of "Tale". By using modern techniques, he presents his culture and civilization. Symbols are main source to understand he Intizar's arts. He potrays his values and identity of eastern culture. His short stories mode is spoken rather than written. He tries to show the peak of the culture and subsequently its diaspord. In this article efforts have been made to explore the sub-continent's culture & values, in Intizar Hussain's short stories.
