Abstract

Abdul Qadir Bedil and Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib are two great legendary Sufi poets of subcontinent. They are competitive to famous Sufi poets of Persian literature like Sanai, Attar, Maulana and Hafiz who have conveyed complex mystical issues in the minds of the readers in different and innovative ways. Both Bedil and Ghalib have used the word "Mirror" in their poetry as a symbol of their mystical thoughts. This research discusses the characteristics of Bedil and Ghalib's poetic styles and the word "Mirror" particularly reflects the spiritual aspects connected with the poets’ ideologies. The study of this paper will not only be helpful in understanding the intellectual and artistic similarities between the two great poets of the subcontinent, but will also help bring in new trends of comparative study on the subject of Sufism along with other great poets of the subcontinent.
