Abstract

Musharraf Alam Zauqi is a famous and well-known modern Novelist of Urdu Language. He wrote his first Novel in 1978. He has authored many Novels, Short Stories, Dramas and Critique. His novels are the true and deep depiction of Social, Political and Religious life of the Indian minorities. He has sketched the deplorable and in despicable conditions of the oppressed segments of Indian society.  Zauqi in his novels has tried to inculcate the political and social consciousness among the neglected masses. His novels revolve around the social evils, exploitation of labors, degeneration of collective socio-cultural values, effects of sectarianism discrimination against minorities in the so called secular state of India, corruption and high handedness of police. Social political awareness is essential for a writer to expose the evils of a society in his writings, especially for the modern literature. Musharaff Alam Zauqi’s Noval “Musalman” is a famous novel based on socio-political subject. This novel is the depiction of Muslims life in India. This novel shows the political problems faced by the Muslims due to the intrigues of those in power. The applications of sectarian riots on Muslims have been comprehensively and boldly explained by Musharaff Alam Zauqi in this novel.
