Abstract

Social reflection is such an aspect of Abdullah Hussain's novels as distinguishes him and raises his status in the Urdu novel writing. He has excellently presented the social issues in his novels. The theme of his novel "Qaid" is the ignorance, narrow-mindednes, superstitious attitude and weak-faith in the name of religion. Through Peer Karamat Ali Shah, Peer Jamaat Ali Shah and Salamt Ali Shah, Abdullah Hussain described that how these few people plunder the poor and ignorant while wearing the mask of religion and spiritually. These people take advantage of people's simplicity and innocence to religiously exploit them. Secondly they malign the names of Islam and spiritually. Abdullah Hussain has made this important social issue with it's details the main theme of his novel, "Qaid". Because of the realistic portrayal it is a memorable novel in Urdu fiction despite it's concise account
