Abstract

Khawaja Fareed was the greatest poet of Siraiki Languages. We find novelty not only in languages but also in the subjects of his poetry. His mystic poetry takes up subjects like Wahdat-ul-Wajood, love for God, love for the holy prophet, love for Murshid, love for human being, love for nature and natural phenomena, Hijr, religious tolerance, peace, brotherhood, togetherness, worthlessness of this world, and betterment of Man. It is such a variety of subjects that makes him distinctive from the other poets of his era. Sweetness of siraiki language, lyricism of his kafi and variety of subjects are the main characteristics of his poetry. These ingredients in his poetry make him not only famous but also effective.
