Abstract

Meer Babar Ali Anees is the most prominent marsiya writer in the history of Urdu Marsiya. The word Marsiya is derived from the Arabic word “Rasa” which means to appreciate a dead person and mourn on his death. That’s why; there is a close between marsiya and mourning. Meer Anees has a specialty to create aspects of mourning in marsiya more than the other marsiya writers. In this article, effort has been made to explore and elaborate the techniques of grief and mourning which are used by Meer Anees in his Marsiyas.
