Abstract
An Autobiography is a self-written account of one's life, his experiences, minor and major, his joys and sorrows as well as his trials and tribulations. An author "in his autobiography" gives a vivid description of his childhood, family, friends, professions, culture, traditions and socio-political scenario of his age. Autobiographies are considered a literary genre. In Urdu, lots of autobiographies have been written till date but the most remarkable are the "Tavarikh e Ajeeb (Kala Pani)" by Molana Muhammad Jafar Thanesri, "Qaid e Farang" by Hasrat Mohani, "Sarguzasht" by Abdul Majeed Salik, "Yaadon ki Baraat'' by Josh Malihabadi, "Shahabnama" by Qudrat Ullah Shahab, "Jahan e Danish" by Ehsan Danish, "Mitti Ka Diya" by Meerza Adeeb.
