Abstract
writing and codification in Islamic history. He was the student of Imam Abu Hanifa and was fellow of Qadi Abu Yusuf and teacher of Imam Shafii. He was an expert in Hadith, fiqh, Arabic language and principles of Islamic jurisprudence. Imam Muhammad was the most notable author of principles of Islamic jurisprudence before Imam Shafii started writing about it. He has written on countless topics including fiqhi rulings and their sources, arguments, the methodology of ijtihad and deductions, qiyas and istihasan, mutlaq and muqayad, conflict and reconciliation, abrogation and linguistics discourses. This article is written with the aim to research about the book of Imam Shaibani about principles of Islamic jurisprudence. The author argues that there is a strong evidence that Imam Shaibani had written an exclusive book on principles of Islamic jurisprudence. Imam Muhammad has two books on the partial discussion of the principles of jurisprudence, Al-Ijtihad and Kitab al-Istihsan, arguments and evidences about them are also part of the article.And the books written by Imam Shaybani on jurisprudence and hadith are also full of principled discussions. A detailed look at these topics is also the purpose of the article.
