Abstract

This article provides a critical overview of Insha Allah Khan Insha's poetry, highlighting his remarkable mastery over language and his contributions to various poetic forms such as ghazals, qasidas, masnavi, rubaiyat, and others. Insha's wit, humor, and command over language set his poetry apart, making it widely appreciated for its joyful and light-hearted tone. His works also reflect influences from renowned poets like Mir and Sauda. The article discusses his unique ability to write multiple ghazals in a single meter and his exploration of philosophical and mystical themes. It also notes his influence on literary circles, particularly in Delhi and Lucknow, where he triumphed in poetic contests. Despite occasional disagreements with friends like Rangin and Qateel, Insha's intellectual prowess and linguistic expertise remained unchallenged.
