Abstract

Besides the books compiled on historical topics, letters written by various eminent people are also an excellent source of information on historical and social events of their time and sometimes provide information that is not available in any regular history book. Mirza Muhammad Hasan Qateel Dehlavi (1756-57/1818) was one of the most respected people of his time and his letters contain glimpses of the political and social events which can be very useful to develop an understanding of that time. The article under review examines the narration of such political and social events described in Qateel's letters.
