Abstract
Sahir Ludhiani's real name was Abdul Hai. His first collection of poetry "Talkhiyaan" was published in 1942. He started composing film lyrics in 1950. Gurudat invited him to write songs for his film Baazi, he also wrote songs for Sahir Ludhianvi's memorable film Payasa. Sahir was from Ludhianvi. It was Ramesh Sehgal's film. Especially "Sare Jahan Se Usha Hindustan Hamara, Rahe Ko Ghar Nahi Hai Sara Jahan Hamara" set new popularity records. Apart from this, he also wrote songs for Neel Kamal, Devdas, Mumbai Ka Babu, Hum Both, Naya Dur, Vaqt, Trishul, Taj Mahal, Daag, Kabhi Kabhi, Dasan and many other films. Majority of his films were very successful at the box office. His songs were composed by SD Burman, RD Burman, Khayyam, Roshan, Shankar Jay Kishan and Roshan. He received several awards including the Filmfare Award. Sahar Ludhianvi is said to be highly paid. His greatest virtue was that he never compromised on quality.
Aurangzeb Khan Qatil Shafai songwriting started together when he wrote the songs for our first film when he was 28 years old. Hazrat Tanveer Naqvi's name was already authentic, now Qatil Shafai has also become authentic. In 1947, a filmmaker from Lahore 'Dewan Sardari Lal' offered him to write songs for his upcoming film "Teri Yaad". As he progressed step by step, he became the top film lyricist of India and Pakistan.
Qatil Shifai considers Hafeez Jalandhri as the founder of lyricism in Urdu and Hazrat Tanveer Naqvi as the founder of film songs. Tanveer Naqvi and Sahir Ludhianvi are the poets who first recognized the film lyricists as literary poets, which was sealed by Qatil Shafai. All of them gave time to literature as well as lyrics in films.
It would not be wrong to say that Qatil Shafai was a pro-Kuroman poet, whose poetry remained on everyone's tongue. But critics believe that he was actually the best film lyricist, whose songs even after the passing of years still evoke a sense of love and freshness in the mind. This Article is based on the similarities among the Filmsongs of Qatil Shifai and Sahir Ludhiani.
