Abstract

A written or spoken rendering of the meaning of a word,speech, book. etc.. in another language.A translator did not translate them as an interpreter but as an orator, not word for word(verbum pro verbo), but he preserved  the general style and force of the language. It is the first grand duty of an interpreter to give his auther entire and unmaimed. The diction and versification only are his proper province. Above all things to keep alive that spirit and fire which makes his chief character. Anees Nagi is a poet, a critic and a translator. He has a name in these three fields.In this essay, our topic is his translation from western literature into Urdu literature. He has translated Prose, Prose and Poetry as well as Pure poetry. His translations are; "Taaun" and "Messons ki devmala" from Albeer Kamiyo, Jahannam ka Mosam" from Arthor Ran eue, "T.S Eliot ki Nazmen", "Pablo Naroda ki Nazmen",Hawain" from Saint John Purs and "Jadeed Fransisi shaery".
