Abstract

The Gujjar Bakarwal tribes are the pastoral. The Gujjar Bakarwal is a unique and significant ethnic group of Jammu and Kashmir.They are dependent largely on goat,sheep and horse keeping. Nomadic herding and migration to different pastures and mountains. They migrate with their goats, sheep, horses and dogs from lower land to highly hilly  areas in the search of green grass meadows for their cattles. They walk on foot per day 20-25 kilometeres and some time above from its. The Gujjar Bakarwal tribes’culture is a unique and vibrant of Islamic traditions ,tribal customs and nomadic practices. Their strong social structure, religious values ,hospitality and resilience have shaped their distinct cultural identity.
