Abstract

In the late 19^th century, the story that became a household name throughout India was the tale of Talism-e- Hoshruba. This is the first work in Urdu literature that encompasses all the attistic elements of storytelling with full detail and elaboration. It features battles, gatherings, beauty and love, cunning and magic on such a grand scale with such a high standard that it is unparalleled in other Urdu tales. Jah and Qamar created this unique master piece beautifully presengting the culture and language of Lukhnow. Undoubtedly, Tilsim-e-Hoshruba is a rare and exceptional artistic marvel of Urdu literature.
