Abstract

Chronogram is the name given to a unique way of describing the history and the occurrence of events. This art has many technical aspects. Every historian preserves history by using some special technique according to his skill and knowledge. In addition to the subject matter, technique is also the most important factor in examining the art of chronogram. The art of chronogram flourished in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, but continued to a large extent in the twentieth century. In this century, great poets like Allama Iqbal also adopted this art for memorizing history. With regard to the twentieth century, it is interesting to examine the aspects of the technique used by various historians. This article attempts to provide an overview of the technical aspects of chronogram during the twentieth century.
