Abstract

An intellectual and philosophical poet like Allama Iqbal is born over centuries because he was not an ordinary poet and, contrary to the scommonplace practices of the time, he introduces his innovative concept to Urdu poetry in such a way that it became a hallmark for his works only. Much has been written and researched on the personality and the poetic acumen of Iqbal but there is still some food of thought left for the coming generation to be extracted from his evergreen property and that is how his poetry keeps itself relevant to the changing circumstances. And this has been the focal point of my article to highlight his relevance in the current social historical conditions of the Muslims in light of the allusion he has to Islamic history in his poetry. He, in his poems and has documented the historic events and different that could awaken the nation and this is how his poetic style became an emblem and articulation of the unified goals of the nation. He preached his fellow Muslims to follow the principles of Islam in their personal and collective lives. When we analyze his poetry carefully, we come to realize that of his fundamental Islamic message are Quran, Hadith and other Islamic tradition. Especially to Prophets, their companions and freedom fighters.
