Abstract

Phonetics, being as a tool of criticism, is relatively a modern way of discovering the hidden meanings and layers of expression. As a branch of Stylistics, it is being accepted and making it wider and wider as the time is passed. Majeed Ahmad is a modern poet and he deserves to be analyzed on modern parameters. New criticism is a tool of exploring poetic thought in depth. We studied and analyzed Majeed Amjad's poetry in the light of phonetics. This article shows that Majeed Amjad is a modern poet who used a vast span of words and he possesses a very important system of sounds. He also used alliteration and semi rhymes to make his poetry more musical.
