Abstract

Umrao Jan Ada and Khawab Sarab are indeed representative of the Lucknavi (Lakhnavi) civilization, which was known for its rich cultural heritage, literary traditions, and poetic excellence.Umrao Jan Ada is a classic Urdu novel written by Mirza Hadi Ruswa, published in 1899. The novel is set in Lucknow and revolves around the life of a courtesan, Umrao Jan Ada, and her experiences in the city's elite circles. The novel is a masterpiece of Urdu literature and offers insights into the social and cultural norms of Lucknow during the 19th century.
