Abstract

Shaukat Siddiqui is one of the Urdu novelists, whose novels have been translated into different languages of the world. His most famous novel "Khuda Ki Basti" was translated into many languages of the world, while another popular novel "Janglos" was also translated into many languages. Other novels written by him "Char Dewari" and a novellete "Kameen Gah" are also important.


Shaukat Siddiqui's greatest work was his novel "Khuda Ki Basti" which was published in 1957. 50 editions of this novel were published and it was translated into 26 languages. This novel was published in three parts.


  Similarly, his martial arts novel "Jangloos" was published in three parts. He wrote this novel over many years. The total number of pages of this novel is 1800 and it is one of the longest novels in Urdu, this novel highlights the problems and difficulties of rural Punjab. The main theme of the novel is the class struggle, the shadows of which are found in all Shaukat Siddiqui's novels. Before writing this novel, Shaukat Siddiqui studied the culture of Punjab extensively, for this purpose he learned both Punjabi and Saraiki languages. His third novel "Char Dewari" is actually his nostalgia.
