Abstract

Islam is not only combination of rituals like Slāt and Sawm (fast)but it equally emphasizes on the importance of social services. We find many examples in the teaching of the Holy Quran and Hadīth where the rights of people have been stressed. The life of Holy prophet (PHUH) is a role model in this regard. Sufis have adopted the social services as basic subject of their training course. In the contemporary social system, the scientific inventions and technology has brought the humans closer. The humans have become accustomed to lavish style of life. However, we also observe the lack of care and detachment towards the fellow humans. The spiritual system of Islam purifies and enlightens the inner self. When the heart is pure, the morals are ascended as well. When a person is drowned in the love of Allah and his Beloved Rasool Allah SAW, he is never selfish and greedy, rather he is the helper of humanity. This article is about theimpact and influence of Sufi masters on the people of the Subcontinent especially in the light of Mughlia,s Empires. The Sufis played a vital role in spreading the teachings of Islam in the Subcontinent. Therefore, for the larger public, the Sufi(saint, pir, Shaykh, murshid) was a source of religious authority and charismatic power. In this context, access to the personality and teachings of a Sufi shaykh was of significant interest to a wider populace. A lot of books comprising the teachings and preaching of Sufis were written. Some important examples of influence and impact of Sufis are being discussed in this article.
