Abstract
There are innumerable classics written by authors who lived the hardships of captivity in different cultures, written in major and minor languages of the world. This literature is deemed as Prison literature. Writers are imprisoned for various reasons such as religious, personal and political. An excerpt or body of literature comprising novels, auro biographies, letters, poetry, historical documents, essays, journalism, diaries, philosophical writings and notes have been written in walls behind the bars. The main reason for arresting the writer and putting him behind bars is to silence him and control his thinking however its especially noted that often times their incarceration provides them the fire needed. Many writers of urdu language through ages have been to prison one among these is the most celebrated author Faiz Ahmed Faiz. His time in prison changed both his writings and ideologies, the study and progression of which is presented in the article below.
