Abstract
The original text, which is written by hand on papers before being published in book form, is called a manuscript. The manuscript is made publishable by going through the proper editing process. Generally, the writing style of an Urdu novel is descriptive and an attempt is made to cover almost all aspects of life in a unique way. Novelists of the 21st century weave their stories through a single narrator, and this style is very popular among contemporary novelists. Another such style is the technique of drafting, with the help of which the novelist first arouses curiosity in the mind of the reader that the proposed writing is not his own but received from some place or region and then creates his own story with it. In this way, not only the tendency towards draft technique increased among Urdu novelists, but the common reader also felt interest in it. The technique of drafting in an Urdu novel fascinates the reader from the very beginning. Many novelists have used the drafting technique skillfully. One of them is Dr. Anees Ashfaq. "Khawab Sarab" shows a firm commitment to the technique of draftsmanship. This novel also creates a deviation somewhere in the continuity of this technique that the author did not create a story before its creation, but the whole novel was written in search of this manuscript and the story of the people found during this search was also submitted in written form. Dr. Anees Ashfaq has gained fame in the literary circles for presenting a fascinating depiction of Lucknow in novel form. In the mentioned novel, "khawab Sarab", a strong and successful attempt has been made to show Lucknow in the context of common civilization and culture. The writer has presented an overview of the use and development of drafting technique in this article.
