Abstract

The last decades of the 20th century and in the early decades of the 21st century, the human race has been facing many cultural and social problems with immoral bonds and social injustices.  In this era, human life seems haunted by oppression, extremism, terrorism, religious bigotry, fraud, social disadvantage, violation of moral values, desecration of customs and traditions, rapid change of human attitudes, humiliation of humanity, killings, materialism, and suffering from many  psychological disorders.  It seems that in this period of cultural backwardness, the Urdu poem sheltered the above-mentioned topics in its lap.  Among the representative poets of this era, Anees Nagi, Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi, Gulzar Ahmed, Hanif Ramey, Ahmed Shahzad, Iftikhar Arif, Ahmed Faraz, Noshi Gilani, Tabsum Kashmiri, Saadat Saeed Amjad Islam Amjad, Fahmida, Riaz, Parveen Shakir and Kishore Naheed are important.  In the poems of Hanif Rame, the understanding of contemporary problems is seen on its job.
