The Article examines the representative features of Neo-romantic tendencies in Urdu short stories after 1947. It also seeks to highlight some of the differences and similarities found in early romantic period and the neo-romantic short story in Urdu. It observes that the early period was the out-come or the reaction of the monotony of Aligarh movement and the imperialist sanctions imposed on Sub-continent in first 3 decades of the 20th century whereas after the partition neo-romantic attributes began to flourish in the writers following the unexpected behaviors and approaches of the ruling class and the powerful segments of society. Although revived romantic or in other words neo-romantic feel may be observed among almost all the writers after 1947 but the article highlights some of the main aspects of neo-romantic stream that are generally visible in the relevant short story writers of the period under discussion.
