Abstract

Sahir Ludhianvi, s long poem"Parshaian"(Shadows)and Ali Sardar Jafari, s long poems "Nai Dunia ko Salam"(Hail to the new world) and "Asia Jaag Utha" (Rise of Asia) have an important place in the tradition of modern long poems. Both contemporary poets believed in economic, social freedom and the pacifist system. Ali Sardar Jafari, like Sahir Ludhianvi, has satirized the political situation in India and Sahir a sorcerer, he has spoken of world peace, eroding civilizations and eroding values. In " Parshaian" Sahir speaks of peasants, laborers and the poor, as well as glimpses of pure Indian civilization. SahirLudhianvi has raised his voice against this class struggle and segregation. Ali Sardar Jafari also seems to be against social inequality and oppression and injustice. In these poems, Sahir and Jafri have expressed their vision of a better tomorrow for their country and their people. British imperialism destroyed the unique, local culture of the sub-continent. Both the poets, through their poems give vent to their sorrow over such a horrific tragedy. They protest against penury and class discrimination which resulted as a consequence of British imperialism. Sahir and Jafri remained wedded to socialist ideas in order to realize their dreams of patriotism, their nation’s cultural, political and economic identity.
